Placing the Kalabre probes under your tongue is similar to using any oral thermometer. Performing the second test requires you blow into the Kalabre device just like one would using a peak flow meter, which is a simple device to check your breathing.
If you should experience any problems using the Kalabre testing device, please stop using it and contact your healthcare provider.
Kalabre uses a proprietary algorithm which analyzes your basal metabolism and lung function. It calibrates these two readings to detect infections often days before you experience symptoms. The Kalabre algorithm has been shown in three research studies to detect infections better than 96% of the time.
We are very serious about protecting your privacy. No personal identifying information is stored on your Kalabre testing device.
If your healthcare provider subscribes to the Kalabre app, and you give them permission to connect to your Kalabre, they will be able to view and download your testing data, however you can disconnect them at any time. And you can download all of your data, and even request that we delete your data from our secure storage system.
If you opt in, we will use non-identifiable testing data to help to improve the accuracy of the Kalabre algorithm, however Kalabre employees and their contractors do not see information that identifies you personally.
While data breaches can occur to anyone who stores and transmits information, we follow all HIPAA requirements, and we encrypt your data when we transfer and store it.
While you can use your desktop or mobile app to view results, you can also keep track of your tests with the display on your Kalabre.
The left column's lights show that you may have a non-respiratory infection. The middle column's lights say that you may be having a respiratory episode, which means that you may have trouble breathing. The right column's lights show that you may be developing a respiratory infection.

Kalabre is designed to be very safe to use under normal circumstance. While Kalabre is an electrical device, the sensing probes designed to be comfortably placed under your tongue will not shock you.
Please carefully read the instructions for the use, care, and storage of your Kalabre Testing Device. Those instructions were provided in the box that your Kalabre was shipped to you in, and can also be found in our Knowledge Base.
Kalabre in intended to be used by either adults, or by children under 18 years of age only with adult guardian supervision. Please keep your Kalabre testing device away from children under 18 years of age.
Your Kalabre Testing Device is not completely waterproof. While you can remove the bottom housing to clean the turbine assembly, you should never place your Kalabre (the part with the button on it) in any liquids.
